BADISA Stilbaai is the only charity organization that delivers a welfare service within the Stilbaai, Melkhoutfontein, and  Jongensfontein areas.

 

 

This is an area of approximately 1126 square kilometers, with a permanent population of about 11000 people. This figure more than doubles during main holiday seasons. The primary Badisa Stilbaai staff compliment includes a social worker, administrative member and a community development officer.

 

BADISA most often deals with people who have very limited schooling. This segment of our society is primarily comprised of fishermen, domestic workers, restaurant staff and labourers who work within the building industry.

 

While there is a fairly high demand for domestic workers and restaurant staff during holidays, there is very little work available for these people outside of the holiday season. 

 

Extremely high levels of unemployment and poverty in the area results in prolific alcohol abuse, child neglect and marital problems.
